Konark


Konark is the small town of Orissa known for oldest shrines. However, beach and dance festival of Konark are famous in the world. Konark (assumed name Arka Tirtha) made from the combination of two words Kona and Arka. Meaning of Konark is sun around the offender.

People reach globally to Konark to attend the annual festival of dance. Classical dancers perform during the fest to make the event more successful. Sun Temple of Konark is world famous attracting voyagers throughout the world. Sun Festival is big occasion and people take holy dip in sea prior to sunrise. This city is admired for Craft and Handicraft work.

Attraction of Konark:
ASI Museum: first spot where voyagers can visit is ASI museum located close to Sun temple. ASI museum contain few fragile models of antique Oriyan structural design. There are 4 arcades in ASI which shows around 250 odd types of numerous traditional things recovered from the temple of Sun.

Konark Beach: A perfect beach of Konark with clean water and yellow sand attracts visitors. Sunrise and sunset are two key things to watch from beach, though boating and some water sports are also conducted at several intervals. 

Sun Temple: A temple of 13th century is dedicated to God Surya. Sun temple is the big identification of Konark. People recognize the Konark with Sun Temple. This shrine displays the beauty of antique Orian structural design. Construction year of Sun temple is 1250 AD and constructed by King Narasimha Deva-I.

Attaining to Konark:
From Kolkata the distance is 571 kms, from Nagpur its 916 km, Hyderabad is 1078 kms, Bangalore is 1463 kms, and Pune is 1606 kms.

By Train: Puri is the big railway station close to Konark, though distance is just 31 kms. Puri station is having direct train from Delhi  BhubaneswarBangalore  ChennaiHyderabadMumbai, and Pune.

By Air: closest air hub is Bhubaneswar located at only distance of 64 kms. People can hire the taxi from outside the station which might charge around Rs 1,400 for Konark. Bhubaneswar is having domestic airport having frequent flights from ChennaiDelhiKolkata and Hyderabad.

By Bus: OSPT (Orissa State Public Transport) buses are available for Konark. Volvo and luxury buses for Konark are accessible from Puri and Bhubaneswar.

Majuli - Largest River Island of India
