Amravati - Jungle of Maharashtra

The Indian tourist place Amravati is our next target that is located in the Maharashtra, India. Shiva Shrine is most popular of the city attracting countless devotees every year from diverse parts of state AP. Amravati is the town ruled by different empires since the establishment of the city. However, Maurya monarchs ruled the city for a longer period and did construction of countless monuments during their ruling. Other than Maurya’s, the town was also ruled by Satavanahas Kings for many years.


Amravati is popular for Buddhist Stupa constructed before the entry of Maurya’s in town. The stupas are very old now and most of them are damaged or destroyed by the different rulers. King Asoka was the most successful ruler of town constructed Buddha Statue and Stupa’s in city which are now 2000+ years old. 


Amravati is the leading town in production of cotton, tur (lentil), jowar and oranges. Few key destinations of Amravati are discussed below:

Melghat Tiger Reserve: 

Watching tiger closer could be dangerous, but that could be most exciting moment as well. Melghat Tiger Reserve is the park housing lots of tigers. Founded in 1974 and lies in Satpura hill ranges in Vidarbha district. The jungle of Satpura is world-famous and their stories are yet available in Indian education centers. Forest is spread in 1677 square kms area with deep greenery everywhere.


Chikhaldara Wildlife Sanctuary: 

another location is Chikhaldara Wildlife Park also recognized as a Wan Wildlife National Park. This sanctuary is located in Melghat area again closer to Satpura Jungle. People refer this park as an extension of MTR (Melghat Tiger Reserve) positioned in Southeast direction of the state.



Ambadevi Temple: 

top shrine of the city is the Shri Ambadevi Temple positioned in the central part of Amravati. The idol of Goddess Ambadevi is beautifully designed. People believe Rukmini a daughter of ruler Bhishmak visited the place before her marriage with Shishupal.


Shri Bhakti Dham Temple: 

the shrine known as Shri Bhakti Dham is next spot of Amravati placed on Badnera road. Devotees of God Krishna visit the place frequently to take blessings of Sri Radha Krishna Bhagwan. Idol of Guru Jalaram Bappa is placed closer to the shrine of Sri Radha Krishna. Shrine is small but amazingly designed and maintained by local administration.


Gugamal National Park:

people who greenery can attain the spot Gugamal National Garden. Formed in 1987 locating in Satpura ranges. Park is spread in 361.28 square km area and voyagers can watch nilgai, chausingha, hyena and many other wild animals in the area.


Shri Ekvira Devi Temple

Amravati is having one more popular shrine known as Shri Ekvira Devi Temple positioned close to the Shri Ambadevi Temple. Construction of this dive temple was done in 1660 by the son of Shri Janardan Swami.

Few other known spots where travelers can attain in Amravati are Wadali Talao, Chatri Talao, Gavilgarh Fort and Sridham Temple.

How to reach Amravati?

By Road: this city of Maharashtra is easily reachable by road. City transport is better, allowing voyagers to commute tourist places easily. However, MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation) is having buses for Amravati from diverse cities of India. Frequent buses from Pune, Indore, Bhopal, Nagpur, Jabalpur, Raipur, Mumbai, Nanded, Akola, Aurangabad, Parbhani and various towns are available for Amravati. NH 6 passes from the city linking North East cities in Western India.

By Rail: railway station of Amravati is linked with big cities of India. Train from Tirupati, Mumbai, Bhusawal, Solapur, Nagpur, Pune, Jabalpur, Nagpur, Mumbai, Surat, Bhusaval, Akola, Latur and Purna.

By Air: domestic airport of Amravati placed at Belora, which is just 15 kms away from city. However, airport is under construction and no commercial flights are available from any part of the nation. The Nagpur airport is closer to Amravati and domestic airlines are having flights for Nagpur.

Vaishno Devi
