Do you believe in heaven? If yes then we are going to discuss a small city known as Aizwal which is the beautiful hill area of Mizoram state, India. This Indian tourist place is having countless spots for travelers. However, each place is having unique and special quality. Aizawl is the capital city of Mizoram having amazing lakes, hills, green valleys and best museum. 


Describing the city in words is not possible as it is one of the beautiful places. Some key destinations of Aizwal are mentioned below:

Once you reach the Aizwal you must not miss the spots like Vantawng Water Falls, Phawngui, Palak Lake, Lunglei, Champhai, Mizoram State Museum, Tamdil Lake, Pukzing Cave, Bora Bazar, Luangmual Handicrafts Centre and Weaving Centre.

Vantawng Water Fall: the falls known as Vantawng are first place to visit in the city. These falls are located at only distance of 137 kms from the city. Experts suggest these waterfalls as highest, largest and magnificent falls. Maximum area is covered with lush forest of bamboo. The average height of fall is 750 feet. 

Palak Lake: another spot for you is Palak Lake located south area of Aizawl. It is the stunning lake of the earth popular for aquatic birds and wild duck. Countless species are reaching to Palak Lake throughout the year. Crab and fish are available in the lake so be careful while walking a side of the lake. 

Phawngui: also known as Blue Mountain is next spot for you. This peak is highest in Mizoram state allowing visitors to view the complete hill area of Mizoram. Once you reach the top of peak there is a 200 hectares level ground covered with bamboo groves. Amazing trees and their shades are best at this spot. You can watch rare flora types, rhododendrons and orchids. You will be surprised after viewing the blue hazed mountains and valleys.

Lunglei: a spot that is 235 kms away from Aizawl. Lunglei is a district headquarters with holding 2nd largest town place of Mizoram. If you want to learn the history of Mizoram you must visit Lunglei as it is the best place for interior visit. In west direction of Lunglei a best valley and river Karbafuli is available. You can easily watch the Buddha's statue located close to Mualchung village. 

Mizoram State Museum: the best collection of rulers and the historical events conducted in Mizoram are available in state museum. You have to attain the central part of town to reach such place. It is smaller in size but very much interesting with good traditional and culture collections of Mizo. 

Champhai: next location for your visit is Champhai that is commercial spot of Mizoram located at only distance of 192 kms from capital Aizawl. If you love trekking, then Champhai the best location for you. Reach the spot in spring season so that you will get the most amazing views during the trekking of spot. From this spot you can watch Ruantlang and Myanmar hill that is only 5 kms distant from Champhai. 

Pukzing Cave: if you are scared of caves then don’t go to this place. Stunning but adventurous Pukzing cave is next tourist destination of Aizwal located at 25-km distance only. These caves are also known as Mualzavata. 

Tamdil Lake: another lake positioned at 60 km distance is available for you. This lake is popular for fish farm having tranquility view with surrounding peaks. Again be careful at this place as the enclosed jungle is full of wild animals. 

Phulpul Grave: legends of Mizoram state are linked to this place so it is must visit place. 

Bora Bazar: a market available for shopping is your next place where you can visit. The stalls in the market are selling music cassettes and garments so get the local made stuff from the market for memory. 

Luangmual Handicrafts Centre: to reach centre you have to cover the small distance of 7 kms from Aizawl. You can buy hand made products from the center, though these products are best in quality. 

Attaining to Aizawl:
Some big cities are having direct transport to Aizawl. Imphal is 249 km away, Agartala is 295 km away, Shillong is 341 km distant, Kohima is 392 km away and Guwahati is 435 km far from Aizwal. 

By Train: nearest big railway station to attain Aizwal is Silchar. Station is only 130 km away from Aizawl and frequent trains are available from Lumding, Guwahati, Bangalore, Delhi, and Hyderabad. 

By Air: Aizawl domestic airport is linked to major cities of India. Local flights are available from Guwahati, Kolkata and Imphal at regular interval. Reaching Aizawl is possible from Dimapur and Agartala also.

Majuli - Largest River Island of India

Vaishno Devi
