RajaJi National Park - Dense Jungle of Uttarakhand

Rajaji National Park is our destination today also known as Rajaji Tiger Reserve. A dense forest at Himalaya ranges with countless wild animals could be a different experience of life. staying at such location is of course not an easy task as the life risk is always there, but the trill and the excitement of such places cannot be compared with other things. this park is at Shavlik ranges spread in 220 km. it is one of the biggest parks of India covers three parts of the state Uttarakhand. Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal and Dehradun are those three cities. it was established in 1983 after amalgamation of three sanctuaries such as Rajaji, Motichur, and Chilla Sanctuary. in the mid of 2015 it was renamed to Rajaji Tiger Reserve.

  
 

Opening Dates and Entry Fee

The park is open from 15th Nov to 15th June for 2017-2018. However, guest house in the jungle is also operated for such period only. As its core jungle so not suggested to visit during peak seasons. other reason is winter is the best period when most of the wild animals come out and hunt. if you reach the jungle in summer it will be hot enough and you will rarely see any animal easily. talking about the fee, for national citizens its Rs. 750 per person. For foreigners its 1500 Rs per person and if you want to hire a jeep it will cost you Rs. 1500 per jeep adding Rs. 150 per person. The best feature of Rajaji National Park is there is a facility for day and night stay in the jungle, though only manual booking is allowed. Permit for jeep and entry in the jungle is available at all gates of park. Guest house are available at Chilla, Ranipur, Motichur, Asharodi and Beri Bada.

    
 

Jungle Safari

It's important to know about the permit and the features available for the jungle. Jeep Safari is conducted by Dehradun forest department and offices are at Chilla range and Motichur. Park opens at 6 AM till 11 AM and if you have booked the safari for whole day the timing will be from morning 6, but they can take rest in guest house between 11:30 to 13:00 hours. They can enjoy bird watching at such time. The next trip will start at 14:30 and will end at 17:30 same day. Natural scenery is amazing here and you can easily watch Asian Elephant in the jungle. Some other animals in the forest are Bengal Tiger, Jungle Cat, Leopard, Hyena, Bear, King Cobra, Sambhar, Jackal and many more. Rajaji national park is also famous as bird watcher paradise. There are around 315 species of birds and some of them are Kingfishers, Barbets, Hornbill, Woodpeckers, etc.

 

If we talk about the important places to the visit the Chilla Ranges are on the top. The beautiful peaks at just 1 km distance from forest allows you to reach the heaven on earth. Here you can again enjoy another forest spread in 249 square km.  

How to reach Rajaji National Park?

There are several gates for this park and entry points accessible from Dehradun, Kotdwar, Rishikesh and Haridwar.

  By Air: Jolly Grant at Dehradun is the easiest air hub for RajaJi National Park. Airport is just 33 km away linked with almost big cities of India.

  By Train: Haridwar is the closest railway station at 8 km distance. However, you can also reach Dehradun that is just 24 km far from RajaJi National Park.

  By Road: Rajaji park is properly linked through road and private buses are available from various cities of Uttarakhand. frequent buses are available from Haridwar, Rishikesh, Delhi and some more big cities.
