Jeolikot - Hill Station of Uttarakhand

Jeolikot is the untouched jewel of Uttarakhand located in the Nainital region. It is also known as Jiolikot a gateway to Naini lake. This hill station is properly connected through road and NH87 is the highway to reach here. Nainital is only 17 km away from this picturesque town. It is popular among nature lovers, especially for floriculture and butterfly loving people. The peasant climate and less crowd is the best thing at this beautiful Indian tourist place.

History

Jeolikot town sings unnoticed tales of its royal past as travelers can see numerous Victorian-style hugs and bungalows and boneyards dotted around the border of the town. The 2 well-known cottages are House of Warwick Sahib who was the retired major of the British army and the one belongs to the lady of Napoleon Bonaparte. The town is beautiful that many British army men use to stay here for some period.

Butterfly Catching:

The town is surrounded by beautiful green hills and the best activity in town is watching a butterfly. It attracts visitors from all over is the crowd of lovely butterfly species that dwell everywhere in Jeolikot.

Bird Watching:

Around 200 aviary types of birds are reaching this Indian tourist place at different weathers. Jeolikot is a paradise for the bird fans open throughout the year for travelers. There are countless varieties of dweller and migratory birds, that are a pleasure to watch, perceive and capture with the camera.

Nainital of Kumaon region is a big tourist destination closer to Jeolikot. Nainital is another famous tourism place of Uttarakhand famous for lakes. It is a big known destination but more crowded than Jeolikot.

Jeolikot offers tranquillity and for accommodation, you can book luxurious cottages, resorts, and budget guesthouses. In peak season you might face difficulty so we advise you to book online in advance. Else you can stay at Nainital and hire a taxi for Jeolikot for daily trips.


How to reach Jeolikot?

By Train: Closest railway station is Kathgodam at 18 km distance. You can easily find a taxi or private buses from outside the station. Train for Kathgodam is available from all big cities of India.

By Air: Domestic airport Pant Nagar is just 56 km away from Jeolikot. However, limited flights are available for Pant Nagar so book in advance in case you have planned your trip to our wonderful land.
