Best Time to Visit

The optimal time to explore this jungle paradise is from October to April. According to the forest department, the designated hours for jungle safaris are from 6:30 AM to 11 AM in the morning, with additional slots available in the evening from 15:30 to 17:00. For those seeking an extended adventure, there is a full-day package that spans from 6:30 AM to 5 PM, offering a few extra hours to immerse oneself in the wilderness.

It's crucial to note that the park remains closed from June 16 to September 30, adhering to the plans of the forest administration. During the rest of the months, the park is open, allowing visitors to plan their trips accordingly. The prominence of this location dates back to 1857 when British Officer J. Forsyth stumbled upon it while in pursuit of the eminent freedom fighter Tanya Tope. The accidental discovery led him to recognize Satpura as a suitable site for a military base.

Denwa River

The vital river that sustains life in the Satpura jungle originates in the southeast region of Hoshangabad and flows from east to west. Converging at Raipur, it joins the Tawa River. Specifically, the Denwa River is situated at 22.74 latitude and 77.71 longitude. Notably, the Tawa Dam has been constructed on this river, providing opportunities for various activities, including boating. Visitors can immerse themselves in the scenic beauty of the National Park while indulging in bird-watching during these boat rides. However, caution is advised during boating activities, as the river is inhabited by numerous marsh crocodiles.

Weather

This verdant destination is a year-round attraction, although winter might pose a slight challenge. In January, temperatures can drop to around 1 degree Celsius. The ideal time to visit is from March to April when the weather is more favorable. For air travel, the nearest airport is in Bhopal, which is well-connected to Delhi and Mumbai.
