Coimbatore

Coimbatore is famous Indian tourist place and the city of Tamil Nadu, the rich state of India. This city is also recognized as Kovai also known as 15th biggest urban agglomeration of India. This main commercial centre is referred as "Manchester of Southern part of India."
Loads of rulers ruled the place at different intervals. The key rulers were the Cholas, Cheras, Pandyas, Vijaya Nagar kingdom and Nayaks of Madurai. Coimbatore becomes the part of the city Mysore in 17th century, which was controlled by BEIC (British East India Company). The modernism of city was done after 1930, and the rapid growth proved it as one of the beautiful developed places of India. Today Coimbatore is the big textile production city producing the largest amount of cloth.

This Indian tourist place is renowned for industries as well as tourist spots and reaching the destination is not difficult as well. Few major spots are described below which will help the tourist to plan the trip accordingly:

Marudamalai Temple: this temple is major spot, which is also known as Malai Temple. Visitors have to travel for 5 kms from the station to reach this shrine. The temple is located on hills and vision of the city from the shrine is astonishing. 
Dhyanalinga Temple: this temple comes on 2nd place as the tourist place in Coimbatore. Lord Shiva devotees must visit this temple and should get the blessings. This temple was sacred by the yogi Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. Temple is approximately 30 kms away from the city and timing for a shrine is between 6 am to 8 pm.





Perur Patteeswarar temple: This is another Hindu temple dedicated to lord Shiva. The shrine was constructed by Pallayakarar Kings in ancient times. The huge statues of Hindu gods are special things to watch in this temple.

Indira Gandhi National Park: the wild safari in Coimbatore is possible at Indira Gandhi National park, which is also a wildlife sanctuary. However, travelers have to cover the distance of 38.5 kms from the city to reach this spot.
Aazhiyaar Dam: This dam is positioned at good distance of 24 km from Pollachi (another Indian tourist place and a city of Coimbatore district). The construction period of the dam was from 1959 to 1969, and the river name is Aazhiyaar. The top feature of this dam is it comprises several other dams receiving inner tunnels and channels for preventing Aliyar, Nirar, Sholiyar, Thunakadavu, Thekkadi, Parambikulam and Palar rivers. This dam is the top-most example of excellent work executed by the Indian engineers. The best height of 81 meters allows the tourist to enjoy big water flow.
Ayappan Pooja Sangam Holy Place: The holy place Ayappan Pooja Sangam is positioned at Road known as Sathyamoorthy located in Ramnagar colony of Coimbatore. The devotees of Swami Ayyappa regular visit the temple and conduct big prayers. Many visitors are visiting this temple because of religious values of Lord Ayyappa.
Black Thunder (Theme Park): The best theme park known as Black Thunder is the biggest theme park of Asia. The reason behind its creation was to entertain and treasure local people. The green hill of Nilgiri mounts with a charming nature view is best thing of this park. Tourist can enjoy swimming, jumping, sliding, and floating events on water because the park is spread in 65 acres. Though, travelers have to cover the distance of 41 km distance from the city.
There are countless tourist destinations in Coimbatore such as Eachanari Vinayagar Temple, Kovai Kuttralam, Anubhavi Subramaniar Temple, Aliyar Dam Reservoir Park, Maharaja World, Amaravathi Dam, Vaidehi Waterfall, Sri Ranganathar Temple, Sree Ayyappan Temple, Infant Jesus Church, Bhavani Sagar Dam, and Vellingiri Hill Temple.

Attaining to Coimbatore is possible through various ways. However closest big station is Kochi, which is just 187 km away. Then comes  Bangalore (321 km away), Trivandrum (385 km away), Mangalore (427 km away), and Chennai(495 km away).

By Air: Coimbatore Airport is just 10 kms away from the city. The other known name of an airport is Peelamedu Airport, and taxis are available 24 hours from the airport. Direct flights from South India and some other parts of India allow a tourist to reach the destination with no worries. Chennai airport is the closest international airport to attain Coimbatore.

By Train: Coimbatore railway station is well-known and properly connected with big major cities of India. Getting the train to Coimbatore is easy so rail is the best medium to reach this tourist place. Some big junctions near to Coimbatore are Podanur Junction,  Bangalore , Chennai, Mumbai and Trivandrum.

By Bus: Inter State transport buses are available from TamilNadu and Kerala. These buses are accessible daily, and roads are properly maintained so traveling through road is also good option for visitors. Connecting buses are available from Trivandrum, Chennai, Cochin, Kozhikode, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
