Anantnag

Famous religious place Anantnag is our next target. This is the small city of Jammu and Kashmir popular for Hindu and Muslim religious values. Anantnag is the capital of Kashmir Valley surrounded with greenery everywhere. 

When we talk about the tourist attraction in Anantnag the first thing comes to mind is valleys. There are countless interesting places, though valleys are most vital areas. Visitors can enjoy hot springs, temples, lakes, shrines and some other spots for their vacations. The two sulpher springs are able to heal maximum type of skin infections. There are many natural springs that are providing fresh water to the city. Salag Nag, Nag Bal and Malik Nag are key springs of Anantnag. 



Famous shrines of city are Goswami Gund Ashram, Hazrat Baba Rashi, Shilagram Temple, KBAS (Khanna Baranain Triposundari Astapan Devsar), Nila Nag, etc. 

Around 7 Hindu shrines are available in the area that is famous. However, many small temples are also available in the city, but the famous spots are Hanuman Temple, Ganesh Temple, Sita Temple and Shiva shrine.



Anantnag is located in 55 Kms distance towards south-east direction of Srinagar. Average population of city is 8.50 lacs. Anantnag city is bordered by Srinagar city in north, Pulwama in north-west and famous Kargil north-east. Once you reach this city you will find best surrounding areas that are also famous for natural beauty spots like in south-east you will get border of Udhampur and Doda whereas west is bounded with Rajouri. 

Attraction of Anantnag:
Mattan: a temple and a monument place is first choice for visitors. A temple of lord Shiva is famous located between Pahalgam and Anantnag. The shrine is placed between the deep ponds.


Martand: an archaeological site is next destination for travelers. It’s a place having temple in middle part of courtyard and rectangular arcade. Martand is demanding spot and a starting point of Amaranth cave that is located at 48 Kms distance from Pahalgam. This place is sufficient to attract devotees all time. 


In this region the famous temples like Lukbhavan, Anantnag, Bijbehara, Deviangan, Akingam, and Goswami Gund are existing.

If you want to attain a BZUDW (Bab-Zain-Ud-Din Wali) shrine then you have to reach Aishmuqam. In Anantnag Baba-Hyder shrine is located. 

Nearby attraction: 
Anantnag is the Bread Bowl of Valley in Kashmir region, but there are many landscape areas as well. 

Pahalgam: popular hill station of north India is Pahalgam that is located at 45 Kms distance from the city. It’s a great tourist spot known as finest health resort of India. This Indian tourist place is positioned o the bank of Lidder River. Things to watch in Pahalgam valley are pine forests, Snow Mountains and the immense spread fields and fields. 



Acchabal: the next nearby spot of Anantnag is Acchabal that is another vital Indian tourist place located at 8 Km distance from Anantnag. Ancient spring and greenery spread in surrounding is major attraction of this place. The gardens developed during the Mughal rulers are exciting spots of Acchabal. Upper area of garden is recognized as Begum Bag Abad. 



Some more nearby cities and towns for visitors are Kokernag, Verinag, and Daksum. 

Trekking: if you are adventure lover and looking for trekking parts then attain to Anantnag. You can do trekking at Pahalgam, Chandanwari, Sheshnag, Panchtarni, Amaranth and Sonamarg. Some other trekking parts near Anantnag are Rangamarg, Humpet, Kanital, Lonivilad, Panikhar and Kargil. You can also reach to Kolahoi glacier that is only 36 Kms away from Pahalgam

However, Tarsar Lake is also available for trekking. It’s just 35 Kms away from Pahalgam

Attaining to Anantnag: 
Possibilities to reach Anantnag from different places makes it easy reachable spot. You can go from MumbaiChennaiCoimbatoreMangalore and Jaipur. Anantnag city is properly linked to many big cities of India. 

By Train: Anantnag railway station is available and connected to few big cities. It’s better to reach Jammu station that is connected to almost every part of the nation. You can easily reach to Anantnag from Jammu station. 

By Air: big nearest airport is Srinagar linked to domestic airbases of India. Flights for Srinagar are available from DelhiBangaloreChennai and many other cities. 

By Road: State transport is having buses for Anantnag from various parts of state. Buses from Srinagar and Jammu are available in frequent quantity.

Vaishno Devi
